A Zesty Life! Yep, that’s right, I have spent most of my adult life overweight, which led to health problems and the biggest risk I ever took was at the age of 55. I was in a job I didn’t enjoy, an empty nester, overweight, and in addition, my knees hurt all the time.
Something had to change. For example, I started looking for new job options. As a result, I made the decision to get my master’s degree in Instructional Design. I enrolled without discussing it with my husband first! You see the risk, right? My family, friends, and coworkers, didn’t understand what I was doing let alone what an instructional designer did. I LOVE my job. I LOVE what I do. One of the best decisions I ever made.
My new mantra became, Everything is a Learning Opportunity. As a result, I was no longer afraid of challenges. Therefore, I’ve now had partial knee replacements on both knees exactly one year apart and for the first time in a very long time, I am completely pain-FREE! I have found renewed zest for life, and I want to help you find it too.
Let’s get started!
First, Here’s A good question for you: How can I have a zesty life when I have so much to do? For example, I am already trying to work on:
- My health (mental & Physical)
- House cleaning
- Meal planning
- Professional development
- Work
- Kids
As I am writing this, it sounds a lot like I’m talking about goals vs obstacles, and that is possible. To clarify, as you dream or create a vision of your zesty life you also need to identify any potential obstacles that may be in the way. This doesn’t mean you can’t dream or get inspired for something more out of your life. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
If you read the quote from John Maxwell above, my interpretation of that quote is that a real dream will fill you to your core. Providing you with the energy, determination, and strength to see you through to the reality of your dream. Or in our case, Your Zesty Life.
As you are thinking about your zesty life, keep in mind that this is a journey, and part of the zest is taking the journey and all that it entails.
How to figure it out
Second, Ask yourself:
- What does my Zesty Life look like?
- What’s missing from that vision and why is it missing?
- What can I do to fix it and/or how do I fix it?
- How do I maintain it and add the next item?
